At the last race in Sonoma, an unfortunate moment occurred between two members of the same team, Ross Chastain and Daniel Suárez. Two famous people from the world of NASCAR, longtime friends, found themselves in an awkward situation after a contact that took place on the track.
One of them, Chastian, known for his aggressive approach to driving, admitted his mistake and publicly expressed his regret.
"It's just conversations," he told NASCAR.com. "I won't let one bad moment erase all the good ones. One incident can't change that. Our relationship will survive."
He added below:
"I hit him. You should be angry, and the whole team has the right to be angry. I went to the team boss and him to let them know that I knew what happened. I wanted them to know that it wasn't my intention. The first half of the braking zone seemed fine to me, but then I realized that I was going too fast and I didn't react properly. That's something that shouldn't happen - colliding with teammates. We talked about everything during the week."
New faces in the team, old ambitions
As the season draws to a close, it has become clear that certain changes will take place within the team. Nine Ninety Nine will get a new pilot next year. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, all eyes are on young Connor Zilisch. His abilities are especially evident on oval tracks.
Also, the team remains strong thanks to the experience of drivers like Shane van Gisbergen, who has already won three times this year. Meanwhile, Zilisch recently took victory at Dover, which ended earlier than planned due to rain. He led for 77 laps and showed what he is worth.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., the famous owner of the team, celebrated the triumph with two cans of Busch Light in his hands, standing proudly with his team. JR Motorsports currently has 11 wins in 20 races this season.
Everything indicates that the future of this team looks very bright.
