At the worst possible moment, a serious injury came for 23-year-old Tyrese Haliburton, one of the most promising players in the NBA. During the seventh game of the Eastern Conference finals, the Indiana Pacers were playing against Oklahoma, and then Haliburton suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury. This injury requires surgery and a long recovery, and will significantly distance him from the floor in the next season, in which he is scheduled to assume the role of the leader of his team.

In his first public address after the injury, the young playmaker spoke to ESPN about injuries and the causes that lead to them.

"There are a lot of guys that have had this happen and they all think they have the answer to why it happened. They all believe there's a simple reason. They say we're playing too many games, too many minutes... All of that may be true, but I don't think it causes injuries," Haliburton said candidly.

Similar thoughts from the commissioner of the league

Similar views were recently expressed by Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA. "I don't think anyone has the right answer. Sometimes injuries are just accidents, something that happens without a real explanation. It's part of the sport," said the head of the world's strongest basketball league.

Tyrese admitted that he took a little risk in the decisive game, because after the sixth game he felt a slight strain in his calf. "After the sixth game I told myself that everything was over and that the adrenaline would solve it. I thought I would be fine. I didn't feel anything bad during the seventh game, I felt great. That's why we had a good start, but then the injury happened at the very end," the young basketball player honestly explained.

This injury is a big blow for the Pacers, because they saw in him a leader and a playmaker who would lead them in the fight for the top of the Eastern Conference. Now the recovery will be long, and basketball fans hope for a quick return of this talented player.
